LOWCOST THEATRE CONCEPT

In a developing country like Nepal, stage or proscenium theatre is a luxurious art. There are only few halls in Kathmandu which can boast of possessing all necessary theatre equipments. But, these halls are quite expensive. Outside the capital valley, many districts even lack an appropriate hall due to various economic problems. Considering all such problems, Sarwanam has initiated a concept of low cost theatre since its establishment.

The concept of low cost theatre is to perform a drama in any place with whatever props available. Most of the times, the theatre artists themselves act as various props like houses, chairs etc through their body movements. Sarwanam has conducted innumerable trainings and workshops focusing on this concept and have created many theatre groups. It is because of this movement that drama is being regularly performed in even the most rural areas of Nepal.

Sarwanam is not only limited in the luxurious theatre halls of Kathmandu. It has traveled far and wide showcasing low cost theatre in almost every district of Nepal
